AUBREY PLAZA TO RECEIVE
“CINEMACON® BREAKTHROUGH PERFORMER
OF THE YEAR AWARD”
CBS FILMS TO RELEASE
THE TO-DO LIST IN AUGUST 2013
“Aubrey Plaza has already been delighting audiences on the hit television series Parks and Recreation and was seen in 2012's sleeper hit Safety not Guaranteed. With her upcoming starring role in the all-star comedy The To Do List, Aubrey Plaza is poised to breakout as one of Hollywood’s hottest new comedic actresses,” noted Neuhauser. “We are thrilled to be able to honor her as this year’s ‘CinemaCon Breakthrough Performer of the Year.’”
Plaza will star later this summer alongside an all-star comedy cast including Johnny Simmons, Bill Hader, Alia Shawkat, Sarah Steele, Rachel Bilson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Donald Glover, Scott Porter, Andy Samberg, Connie Britton and Clark Gregg in CBS Films’ The To Do List releasing this August. A comedy about close friends and a special summer project, the film is loosely inspired by the real-life adventures of first-time writer/director Maggie Carey. Set in 1993, valedictorian Brandy Klark wants to shed her uptight image before college, so she assembles a to-do list of all the “activities” she missed out on in high school. Quickly realizing that she's way out of her depth, Brandy solicits her best friends, older sister and burnt-out boss for their help and advice. Plaza can also be heard later this summer in Monsters University, which will be released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on June 21, 2013, and she recently wrapped production on A Many Splintered Thing, in which she stars opposite Chris Evans, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Luke Wilson and Michelle Monaghan.
Plaza most recently starred in the critically acclaimed feature Safety Not Guaranteed, which earned her a 2012 ALMA Award for “Favorite Movie Actress – Comedy/Musical.” Additional film credits include A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III, Damsels in Distress, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Funny People. On television, Plaza stars in the Emmy-nominated comedy series Parks and Recreation with Amy Poehler.
