CinemaCon 2024 came to its traditional close with the Big Screen Achievement Awards and Closing Night Party, honoring notable acting and filmmaking talent, most of whom involved in upcoming releases featured throughout the week at the various studio presentations. As with last year's first "full" convention since the pandemic, the lineup for the final night was smaller than in pre-2020 years, plus three awards, the Visionary Award, Legend of Cinema Award, and Spirit of the Industry Award were given at earlier convention events to, respectively, Kevin Costner, Jon M. Chu, and Dwayne Johnson. This year's complete list of honorees for the awards night:
- CinemaCon Star of the Year: Lupita Nyong'o
- Rising Star of the Year: Ariana Greenblatt
- Breakthrough Performer of the Year: Joseph Quinn
- Director of the Year: Shawn Levy
- Award of Excellence in Acting: Dan Stevens
- Vanguard Award: Amy Poehler
- Cinema Icon Award: Dennis Quaid
- Viola Davis Trailblazer Award: Geena Davis
For the third consecutive year, the usual pre-awards show press conferences did not take place this year.
Following that final event at the Colosseum, the Octavius Ballroom was once again the scene for the absolutely final event of the week, the Big Screen Achievement Awards afterparty, sponsored by the convention's presenting sponsor, Coca-Cola.

And so ends another full springtime week at CinemaCon. Hopefully I will be returning on March 31 - April 3, 2025 for CinemaCon 2025!
(Very special thanks to Heather Lewandoski and the CinemaCon PR team for all their helpful and generous assistance at the convention, as well as Mitch Neuhauser and the CinemaCon crew and Harry Medved and the National Association of Theatre Owners)
