Nag Ashwin celebrates Kalki 2898 AD in Hollywood at the TCL Chinese Theatre

Film Flam Flummox

After setting the cinema box office on fire the world over for two weeks and counting -- including in North America, where it has finished in the top ten box office for two consecutive weekends -- the Telugu language science fiction epic Kalki 2898 AD, starring global superstars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, was given a special screening in the heart of Hollywood at none other than the historic TCL Chinese Theatre today, Saturday, July 13. Flying in from India to make his very first visit to the world famous movie palace for this landmark event was director and co-writer Nag Ashwin, whose introduction to and discussion of the film can be viewed in my complete video of the event below.

Kalki 2898 AD is now playing in cinemas worldwide, from Vyjayanthi Movies.

F3PR: Mickey & Friends release first single from Simple Plan as part of a new album of reimagined Disney hit songs

Film Flam Flummox

PRESS RELEASE

MICKEY & FRIENDS RELEASE
FIRST SINGLE FROM SIMPLE PLAN
AS PART OF A NEW ALBUM OF
REIMAGINED DISNEY HIT SONGS

Mickey & Friends introduce
A Whole New Sound,
an album featuring a selection of
Disney’s greatest hits covered by
iconic alternative, rock, and pop-punk bands

BURBANK, California – July 12, 2024 – Today, Disney announced that the first single from the upcoming album A Whole New Sound is multi-platinum band Simple Plan’s rendition of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight,” in honor of The Lion King from Walt Disney Animation Studios and its 30th anniversary. This pop-punk cover, available now on all streaming platforms (including Amazon, Spotify, Apple Music, and more), is a fresh new take on a beloved classic.

“We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic. We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it,” Simple Plan said.

For this new album, Mickey Mouse and his Friends have brought together some of their favorite alternative, rock, and pop-punk bands to reimagine popular Disney songs. The full album and vinyl will be available later this year.

As a cultural icon, music has never been just a phase for Mickey, as he is a huge music fan and has an extensive record collection —- which gave him the idea for this new album made for fans of all generations.

The artwork for the new album was also revealed today, featuring Mickey & Friends with a whole new look.

Mickey’s impact on music is well known, with his debut appearance marking the first animation to feature synchronized sound. His on-screen appearances since have been soundtracked by popular music across a multitude of genres.

On August 9, 2024, the award-winning band Simple Plan will take the stage at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa® to perform their version of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” for Disney’s most devoted fans as part of the more expansive and immersive event.

“We grew up watching Disney movies with our families and now we get to enjoy them with our own kids, so it’s pretty amazing to have been invited to be on this album,” Simple Plan said.

Mickey and his friends, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Pluto have always been immersed in popular culture, and fans will soon see them emerge in even more exciting, and sometimes unexpected places, as they explore their interests in fun new ways.

About The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company, together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, is a leading diversified international entertainment and media enterprise that includes three core business segments: Entertainment, Sports and Experiences.

About Simple Plan

From their new millennium rise to MTV superstardom through pop-punk’s modern resurgence, Simple Plan has been an indelible part of pop culture since forming in Montreal in 1999. They’ve sold 10 million albums worldwide, won multiple Juno Awards, performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics —- and, most recently, launched the omnipresent #ImJustAKid TikTok challenge that’s spawned more than 3.4 million videos, including clips from Hilary Duff, Ed Sheeran, Usher, and Venus and Serena Williams.

But most importantly, they’ve never lost connection with what really matters: their audience. “We feel so lucky to have fans who love our old and new material,” says drummer Chuck Comeau. “We’re very proud of our past, but we’re even more excited about the future. We truly always feel we’re three minutes away from the best or biggest song of our career.”

“It’s amazingly complex to be in a band for 20-plus years, to keep going, stay relevant, and manage all the challenges that come your way,” lead vocalist and bassist Pierre Bouvier says. “It’s the furthest thing from a simple plan—it’s truly a lot harder than it looks. Throughout our career, it’s taken a while to be mature enough to understand that our sound is an asset, not a liability. On the album Harder Than It Looks we said, 'Let’s just embrace who we are and not be afraid to do what we do best. Making a good Simple Plan record is just as hard as making something off the beaten path.'”

Deadpool & Wolverine's world tour makes a splash in Seoul

Film Flam Flummox

The worldwide promotional tour for Marvel Studios' latest summer superhero blockbuster, Deadpool & Wolverine, continued to travel through Asia following Tuesday's Shanghai launch with its marquee stars, Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson/Deadpool/co-writer/producer) and Hugh Jackman (Logan/Wolverine) making a couple of appearances in Seoul, South Korea over the last two days. They were first joined by director/co-writer/producer Shawn Levy for a large fan event at Jangchung Arena on Thursday, July 4, where all three greeted fans and appeared on stage to introduce a special sneak peek. The following day, Friday, July 5, Reynolds and Jackman then made a splash -- quite literally -- at the KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 for an on-stage appearance at Waterbomb Festival, a rather unique concert event that mixes music and, yes, soaking everyone with water via water guns and various spray apparatuses. The duo gleefully partook in the aquatic antics, leaving the stage in clothes as drenched as their and the audience's spirits were energized. Video highlights of both events can be viewed below.
