Movie Music Monday: Sights from The Hunchback of Notre Dame U.S. stage premiere

Film Flam Flummox

The stage adaptation of Disney's 1996 animated feature and Victor Hugo's classic novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame finally had its long-awaited official English language debut at the La Jolla Playhouse last night, Sunday, November 9. While I am still gathering my official thoughts on the production, which features Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz's tunes from the film, the 1999-2002 German language production Der Glöckner von Notre Dame, and some new compositions in a new book by Peter Parnell under the direction of Schwartz's son Scott (I will say this for now--it is an achievement of rich, overwhelming power on every conceivable level), here are some images I took at this exciting, exhilarating, electrifying night of live theater.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is now playing at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego through Sunday, December 14.
