Movie Music Monday: Once moves from screen to stage in Hollywood

Film Flam Flummox

This was supposed to be when/where my in-depth review of the stage adaptation of John Carney's 2007 Oscar-winning gem Once was going to run. The original film being my absolute favorite of that year, I was intrigued by the notion of the (in my mind, rather unlikely) production once it was announced for an Off-Broadway premiere in 2011, and even more so when its success led to a multiple Tony-winning transfer to Broadway in 2012. And so I was looking forward to the show's long-awaited Los Angeles premiere at the historic Pantages Theatre in Hollywood on Thursday, July 17, given my great love for the film and the rather fortuitous timing of its L.A. splash coinciding with the current cinema run of Carney's latest musical film, Begin Again. However, perhaps to no surprise, I was not the only person anticipating it, for the helpful Pantages media staff was unfortunately unable to accommodate my ticket request (and self-funding for expensive legit theatre coverage is hugely difficult for me lately). And so I post this item merely informing those in the Los Angeles area that the first national tour production of Once is now running at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood through Sunday, August 10. A clip of the tour cast in action is below.
